Artisan Raku Urn

This Raku ceramic cremation urn is a piece of art made by a talented Montreal ceramic artist.

The piece is individually hand thrown. Raku is an ancient ceramic art form originating in Japan. Pots are quickly removed from the kiln when glowing red, approximately 1800 degrees. They are immediately sealed in a can of leaves or paper where they erupt into flame. The unique patterns of metallic colors in the glaze result from the flame, smoke and rapid cooling. The work reflects the unpredictable nature of the firing. You will love this unique work of art to celebrate the life of your loved one. This cremation urn can be used as a companion urn for ashes.
